Meet Katie Nelson, The Sales Catalyst and Dynamite Business Strategist
If you’re new here, allow me to properly introduce myself. I’m Katie Nelson, aka The Sales Catalyst, and CEO and Founder of Sales UpRising. I’m a sales-loving, no-fluff, let’s-get-to-the-point business strategist and sales expert based in Northern Virginia and my clients span the globe. I believe sales should feel human, strategy should feel doable, and laughter should be a daily non-negotiable.
Business is hard enough without it being boring, there is a reason we do this, right?
I bring that same energy to my clients because growth doesn’t require misery. It requires clarity, courage, competence, confidence, and someone who isn’t afraid to lovingly call you out when you’re overcomplicating things.
Why I Do What I Do (And Why It Works)
Maybe it’s because I grew up in an entrepreneurial family. Maybe it’s because I’ve spent the majority of my adult life in sales. Or maybe it’s because Sales UpRising is my third business (and as of 2025, I own my 4th!)
Whatever the reason, I deeply understand the excitement of starting a business, mixed with the confusion, the overwhelm, and the quiet panic of thinking, “Wait… am I doing this right?” “What am I supposed to be doing?” “I am excited and terrified, is this normal?”
What I discovered early on is my superpower: relationship-driven sales.
Sales came naturally to me because I wasn’t focused on pitching, I was focused on having honest conversations. This approach built trust, partnerships, and revenue without the sleazy tactics or awkward cold pitches. It’s also built some of my dearest friendships.
And guess what? It still works.

After nearly 10 years in business (Sales UpRising officially turns 10 this August), relationships remain at the core of everything.
