When entrepreneurs are being honest, they will let you in on the secret that being a business owner can be very lonely at times.
For the longest time, I did not understand why people continued to say this because every time that I looked around, I saw amazing people following their passions and starting businesses.
I attended networking events where I met some of my greatest friends who were also business owners and I could talk to them about things that only we, as business owners, understand.
But then it hit me like a ton of bricks…
The business owners who said that entrepreneurship was lonely were the ones NOT doing this one thing…
Watch this quick video to find out the epiphany that I had.
Most people who are not business owners or entrepreneurs will never truly understand what you’re going through and that’s okay.
It’s not their job to know what the highest of highs feel like and the lowest of lows will feel like.
Their job is to be there to support you as a family member, a friend, or even a spouse.
Which is why it’s so important to find your tribe of business owners or entrepreneurs who do go through similar experiences that you go through.
So where can you go to find other business owners or entrepreneurs at your level or even beyond your level?
Networking Events
Networking events are a great way to meet new business owners.
It doesn’t matter if you live in a city with a crazy amount of events listed all over Eventbrite or Meetup, OR if you live in the country where you’ll have to drive 30 minutes to the nearest networking event.
There are plenty of amazing organizations that are out there and focused on helping business owners thrive.
One that I belong to is called the eWomenNetwork and it’s an organization that is focused on helping one million women to achieve $1 million dollars.
(This doesn’t mean that if you are a guy that you can’t join. We are inclusive of men who are also supportive of females in entrepreneurship & business.)
Other networking events and organizations can be found on sites like Eventbrite, Meetup, or even Facebook!
Masterminds
If you are ready to up-level your business and get yourself out of your comfort zone, then a mastermind is a great way to meet other business owners who are also at a growth point in their business.
A mastermind is a collection of business owners from any industry who are willing to share what’s been working for them in their industry and allowing you the opportunity to adopt their strategies within your industry.
Masterminds started back with Henry Ford and it’s how the assembly line transformed the automotive industry.
Most masterminds are business owners who are willing to put skin in the game to learn from a coach along with the opportunity to network with other business owners within that mastermind.
Other masterminds are formed from networking events where business owners just meet to help each other out.
Either option is a great way to learn new tricks from a different industry and it’s up to you to adopt it into your industry.
Hiring a Coach
This is one of the most common ways to meet other business owners because hiring a coach means that they have a network of people who they’re currently working with or someone they have met while at an event.
Coaches are typically people who know a lot of people and can point you in the right direction where to meet other business owners.
Another benefit of hiring a coach is a coach is outside of your “box of problems” so they can see solutions that you may not be able to see.
You know that problem that is causing you to lose sleep at night….
The solution may be so simple to someone that’s not currently experiencing the problem.
As you see, entrepreneurship doesn’t have to be lonely.
There are many possibilities where you can meet with people who are just like you and will understand what you’re going through.
